Job description
The Grae Matta Foundation is a UK-based non-profit organization and association dedicated to enhancing mental health support within higher education and workplace settings. Established in 2017, the foundation strives to ensure that individuals have timely access to appropriate mental health resources, thereby fostering healthier educational and professional environments. It is committed to improving mental health in higher education and the workplace by developing and influencing organizational policy. The Foundation is dedicated to advancing research on the efficacy and improvement of mental health services in these settings.
Role Description
This is a volunteer Board Trustee role located in the London Area, United Kingdom, but with flexibility for some work from home. The Board Trustee will work closely with other trustees to help govern and shape the Foundation’s strategic direction. Responsibilities include participating in regular board meetings, contributing to committees focused on specific areas of the Foundation’s work, and contributing to fundraising initiatives.
Qualifications
A candidate should possess the following skills:
- Experience in governance or policy-making, with a strong understanding of strategic planning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals, including board members, staff, and other stakeholders
This is a highly rewarding and varied role, and we particularly encourage applicants with an extensive background in the following areas:
- Background in Legal, HR, IT, R&D, Fundraising, Accounting and Marketing & Communications.
Qualifications that would be beneficial for a candidate to possess include:
- Experience in the mental health or education sectors
- Experience in fundraising or philanthropy
- Experience serving on a non-profit board or committee
These are indeed challenging times so we need Trustees who are hands on and dedicated to making sure the Foundation survives these extremely challenging times

Length: 3 Year Term.
There will be a round of phone/video interviews – successful applicants will be required to come into London for a final meeting.
